The Battle of Castle Turjak was an encounter between the pro-Allies Liberation Front of the Slovene People and the pro-Axis White Guard during World War II. Slovene partisans of the Prešeren brigade seized the castle from the White Guard village sentries, capturing 500 enemy soldiers and wrecking most of the castle.
